“Companion” can’t be opened

Hello,

I have just downloaded the latest build of the custom Companion app.

Using macOS v10.14.6 Mojave I am getting this error when trying to open:

“Companion” can’t be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software.

Any ideas? I will try on a different computer running macOS v10.15 tomorrow.

Many thanks

Tim

That’s normal for apps that haven’t paid Apple their fee. I’m surprised you haven’t run across this before!
Command-Click and select Open and all will be well.

Hi Andy,

Thank you so much - sorry for troubling you! I have had this before, but I’ve always been able to go into System Preferences > Security & Privacy and click open from there.

Now I know!

All the best

Tim

Hot tip - command-click saves you those steps! :hiding:

Hi Andy,

I also run Mojave 10.14.6 on my MacBook Pro. But even with Cmnd+Click I still get the message that the Software needs to be adjusted because Apple can’t check it on safety. Reach developer for more info.

Please any options beside Cmnd+Click?
Under System Preferences/Security & Privacy I can’t set it to install anyway…

OK, so after trying it over 10 times, Apple gave up… Apparently OSX thought I was so desperate that it let me install the software. Opening the app was the same battle. But, guess who won!
Finally ready to start building my show automation.

Thanks for the great tool
