Hi folks. I know how to install the rcp plugin based on the versions that are listed as available when using Companion but how do I install a newer release that hasn’t been bundled up and made available that way?
Hello and Welcome!
Are you using companion v4?
Upgraded from 4.0.2 to 4.0.3 just now and then after poking around I somehow got it to upgrade, I think I had to disable the module to be able to change version - not quite sure but on rcp 3.5.10 now which I think is latest. Thanks for responding. I’m not exactly sure what sequence I went through but I think it’s upgraded now.
and yay I have stereo VU meter monitoring on the DM3 - this didn’t work properly in the release I had. What a fantastic plugin this is. I now have monitor buttons for all busses and matrixes with VU meters - really useful!
Just follow the instructions here if you’d like version 3.5.11.
Thanks - this is such an incredible plugin. I just bought a StreamDeck Plus today (already have the XL) and I was able to get the rotary knobs to control fader level on the desk (for the DAW input and main stereo feed to the monitors) so I don’t have to lean over and change or zero them when the phone rings or whatever.
However the best I can do for feedback is to use the VU meter plugin and set it to top display then use one channel to show the fader level and the other to show the fader position. This is pretty cool but of course being a VU meter it wants to change colour as the levels increase and since one channel is being used to show fader position, it’d be cool to be able to disable that functionality on a per-channel basis. i.e so the bar is always green because it’s being used as a fader position indicator.
Or of course have some kind of feedback display actually optimised for the rotary knobs on the SD+. For instance an arc display rather than a horizontal or vertical bar or something. But it’s still amazing what you can do here. I need to go look at Reaper OSC now to see if I can get feedback from its metering as well.
Also it’s great you can set the button matrix to be bigger than 8 X 4 - I was scratching my head over how to set up both StreamDecks and assign buttons and then I realised if I made the matrix 8 X 8 say then I could assign buttons on the Streamdeck app using the Companion plugin to rows that were not visible on the main XL streamdeck and thus completely fill both devices with different functions. Wow!
