Read Levels/Meter Values from Yamaha MTX?

Hi,

I’ve understood from the Yamaha RCP Companion Module github that the MTX3/MTX5 devices are not supported. Is this due to fundamental design/protocol incompatibilities?

Or, more concrete: Would it be possible to read and show meters for specific channels (In/Out) for MTX devices with this Companion module already? Or has anyone tried to read meter values and/or send commands to MTX devices via the “Generic TCP” Companion module? (E.g. Toggle oscillator for a specific channel)

I tried to follow the RCP Meter Video posted here on the forum and tried out different settings for Console/PreAmp Type, but the Variables needed for meter display were not auto-created after setting up a meter feedback.

Sorry for the noob question, I’m no audio engineer or Yamaha expoert, I come more from the video / Companion fan side of things

Thanks for any hints and ideas.

The MTX series has a highly complex set of instructions, very different from the Yamaha mixing console and preamps.
It would need a completely separate module to be made, and if I were to do it, I would need an MTX device in my hands as well as time and $$ to work on it.
The protocol is documented here: https://usa.yamaha.com/files/download/other_assets/1/1144121/mtx_mrx_xmv_ex_remote_control_protocol_spec_v310_en.pdf

Hi Andy,

thanks for the reply! I understand, thanks for your efforts with the impressive Companion module as-is!

Best wishes!
