So…
I have just migrated from a CL5 to a DM7. I’ve been using a Stream Deck+ (the one with knobs) with the MIDI plugin to access many functions on the CL/QL desks. I now find that these MIDI cc messages can’t be mapped to the FX in the Rack slots on the DM7 ![]()
For Example, I have a knob mapped to the threshold control of the Bus Comp in slot 1 of the Premium Rack, I have a control so I can ‘spin’ feedback on my DDL as well as some of my reverb times etc. etc. These things are a real boon for me as I like to mix fast and spontaneously, and need to change stuff without all the button pressing and screen watching! I even have buttons that double, or half, the delay time of my DDL - It’s a Dub thang man!
Additionally, I have some more obvious mappings such as T.T.S., Shout, Gain Swap, FX Mute etc.
I’m disappointed that (currently?) It seems that those FX parameters aren’t available on the DM7 via the standard MIDI menu on the desk.
(It is nice that the board has built-in USB-MIDI, btw.) But it looks like I need to get my head around Companion!
Wish me luck.
Part 2: I Have A Dream…
I need to do stuff like when I rotate a knob on my Stream Deck it will:
a). bring up the Premium FX 1 (in my case Buss Comp) on the main screen
b). Change the (e.g) Threshold control
c). Then recall the Home page after a couple of seconds…
and similarly for other FX rack parameters.
I’ve only just started on this, but I wondered if anyone has any useful pointers, or if you could let me know if I’m ‘barking up the wrong tree’? (My mates know I’m barking anyway, but that’s another post)
Fanks peeps.
